Obed Rod, pastor of the Afghan Church of the GTA, recently shared that at Christmas, the church had two live international Christmas services in Farsi and Pashto languages. The services included approximately 45 people sharing their testimonies, singing songs, preaching and participating in the Christmas services. Hundreds of Afghans and Iranians joined the services from all around the world.

Also, throughout the Christmas season, the church had four special Christmas online programs on all four Sundays in December. Afghan Churches in India, Turkey, the US, and Greece were invited to lead these online worship times. In each program, two speakers shared messages about Christmas. It was a wonderful initiative by the Afghan Church of the GTA to unite and encourage Afghan churches to serve together.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hindered the church from meeting and doing outreach in person, so online ministry has been the only way for them to arrange their worship and prayer meetings, to continue their regular and occasional activities, and to share the gospel with people. The church has eight live/online programs every week that are broadcasted through the internet and satellite.

On January 1, 2021, the church joined other Afghan churches in Turkey, India, the US, and Greece for another event, a “Praise and Prayer” meeting. Joining by hundreds of Afghan believers from all around the world, God was praised for all His blessing in people’s lives in the year 2020, and His blessing, guidance and provision was sought for 2021. It was a powerful and anointed time of prayer and praise. The meeting continued for hours, and everyone was blessed to start the new year in such a wonderful way.
