A Reminder Note on Global Outreach Day – May 25, 2019
Global Outreach Day (G.O.D.) is a catalyst to encourage Christ-followers everywhere to share the gospel. We want to encourage our churches and congregation members to review the resources and use them for creative ideas in living out our faith every day, all year, in a way that will impact others who haven’t heard the gospel. Watch this video or download these files and share them widely as inspiration for a lifestyle of evangelism. Congregation members may be interested in this app as well, and can share it with family and friends.

Thank you for tracking with us through Every Day Faith 2019. Visit www.everydayfaith.ca for all the latest updates.

MAY 2019
I will pass on my faith intergenerationally.

What are your earliest memories of learning about God or about what Jesus did for you? Did you have mentors who helped you to grow in your faith once you first put your trust in Christ? Do you now have someone who knows they can come to you when they are looking for spiritual advice? Being disciples who make disciples means that as we live with a conscious desire to follow Christ and imitate His life, we help others to do the same. We share with them what God has revealed to us as we walk with Him by faith. No matter our age, we can tell others what God has done for us, and influence them towards a deeper understanding of God’s character and greater confidence in His Word. There is always some truth that we can pass on by word or example to someone who is paying attention to what we do or say. It can be a neighbour, a friend or a member of our own family. Often the person is someone younger than we are, but they can also simply be younger or less experienced in their faith journey. Ask God to help you be sensitive to opportunities to pass on your faith, especially to someone who may be younger or less experienced than you are.

Pray

Ask and it will be granted…

  • That God will show us opportunities for being a mentor in the faith.
  • That God will grant us the courage and wisdom we need to share what we have learned with others in the right ways and at the right times.
  • That those with whom we share our faith will become Christ-followers or deepen their friendship with Him.
  • That those we disciple will also become people who make other disciples.

 For reflection:

  • Do you feel comfortable sharing your faith in Christ with others? Why or why not?
  • What has God done for you that strengthened your faith in His ability to take care of you?
  • If you knew that someone would benefit from having you as a mentor, would you be willing to be one?

Romans 10:14-15 (NLT)
“But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, ‘How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!’ ”

Matthew 28:19-20 (NLT)
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

John 15:16 (NLT)
“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.”

Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NLT)
“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”

Deuteronomy 6:20-25 (NLT)
“In the future your children will ask you, ‘What is the meaning of these laws, decrees, and regulations that the Lord our God has commanded us to obey?’

“Then you must tell them, ‘We were Pharaoh’s slaves in Egypt, but the Lord brought us out of Egypt with his strong hand. The Lord did miraculous signs and wonders before our eyes, dealing terrifying blows against Egypt and Pharaoh and all his people. He brought us out of Egypt so he could give us this land he had sworn to give our ancestors. And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us.’”

Next month’s “I Will” statement: “I will walk in the power of the Holy Spirit.”
