Exiting the Fund

If you terminate your employment before age 55 and are not vested, you will receive a refund of your member contributions with interest.

If you terminate your employment before age 55 and are vested in the Fund, you will receive a benefit equal to the value of your pension earned to your termination date.  You may choose how you receive that benefit from the following options:

  1. leave it in the Fund and receive a deferred pension after age 55 (as governed by Early Retirement Benefits described herein); or,
  2. transfer it to a Locked-In Registered Retirement Savings Plan (LRSP) or Locked-In Retirement Account (LIRA) as applicable in your province of employment; or
  3. transfer it to a pension plan with your new employer if the new plan permits; or
  4. use the funds to purchase an annuity.

For credential holders, “termination” means the relinquishing of credentials. For non-credential members, “termination” means termination of employment.
