MISSION CANADA URBAN WORKER
Ministry Location: Whistler, British Columbia
Ministry Focus: Urban Ministry
Hi, and thanks so much for dropping by my little corner of Mission Canada.
My name is Jeremy and I am a mountain living, snow chasing, rock climbing, parish pastoring, family rearing misfit based in Whistler, BC. Wild spaces inspire me. That's what my Instagram account claims, anyhow.
In Whistler since 2010, our family has grown deep roots in many different corners of the community. We can often be found high in the mountains, deep in the valleys, and celebrating around long meals with good friends, neighbours, wanderers, and the vagabonds who float in and out of Whistler.
The life and teachings of Jesus inform and guide our spiritual practices and our daily walk, a daily walk that takes us into some pretty interesting places! Also, we're inspired by people like Bernard of Menthon (Saint Bernard), a man who spent 40 years in the treacherous high mountain passes of Switzerland caring for travelers and pilgrims, renowned for his radical hospitality.
Whistler, and the mountains surrounding, is the parish I walk.
Known as the Good Reverend, Father, Padre, or Pastor, depending on who you're talking to, I've had the honour of walking beside many on their journey through valley-low and mountain-high. This path has nearly broken me, from time-to-time, but I wouldn't change it.
And so we press on, with one intent: To showcase the story of Jesus and walk beside people in the mountains, because we must.
