The Mae Sot Area Manager (AM) serves as the point person for Imagine Thailand’s work in the Mae Sot region. In addition to working with migrant schools and local partners with clean water and nutrition programs, the AM is constantly looking to build relational inroads within the community. As such, the AM is passionate about the Mae Sot community and intentionally serves the community, as an example of Christ, by caring for community needs regardless of their ethnic or religious affiliation The AM works to connect the community, the government, NGO’s, and local faith communities, and build relationship between them and Imagine Thailand. All of this serves as an expression of Christ’s love and opens opportunity to be part of the community. ● Water and Sanitation Health (WASH) ○ work with our current team to assess and prioritize migrant schools and local organizations in terms of their need for a water purification system ○ work with our current team to install water purification systems in the assessed and selected schools / organizations ○ provide training on water purification systems and maintenance to empower sites which receive a water purification system ○ keep records of water projects and provide reports when necessary ● Community Relations and Capacity Building ○ relational capacity building with the community, government, schools, and local partners (partner relations) ○ organizing kids and youth camps (sports, music, ESL) and training workshops ○ facilitate guests and teams ○ help assemble and distribute teacher resources for kindergarten teachers ○ developing and promoting quality education for migrant students living in Mae Sot and ○ bridge with the Full Gospel Assemblies of Thailand (FGAT), our primary church partner. We work with FGAT to be a bridge between existing churches and the community and to serve as a door-opener for starting communities of faith ● Soy Milk Production and Distribution ○ help manage soy milk production and distribution while ensuring quality control and working with a small team ● Team Leadership ○ giving oversight to programming, leadership mentoring and development, and any additional paid or volunteer staff. ● Other ○ language learning (primarily Thai, though some acquisition of Burmese or Karen is an asset) will be an ongoing part of the work experience
● strong administrative and organizational skills (project management experience would be an asset) ● as a multi-site organization, internal communication and reporting skills are key ● as in any cross-cultural work environment, flexibility and patience are required. Being a border town, Mae Sot is a mix of cultures and cultural sensitivity and adaptability will serve you well. ● able to engage, listen, and learn from community leaders ● Excellent interpersonal and communication skills ● Ability to exercise good judgment, show initiative and be proactive ● High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive situations
A post-secondary degree or post-secondary vocational training.
● repair and maintenance skills, preferably with electrical or carpentry experience, are preferred ● experience with water systems an asset ● experience with partner relations is a strong asset
