Canadian Wildfire Response

A helicopter flying over a wildfire.

Canada is in the middle of the worst wildfire season on record.

On the west coast, over 1,000 wildfires are in full blaze. 30,000 families in and around Kelowna, British Columbia, have been ordered to evacuate. Another 20,000 families in Yellowknife are now leaving their homes behind after the Northwest Territories declared a state of emergency this week.

The British Columbia & Yukon District and the Alberta & Northwest Territories District of The Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada are responding, mobilizing churches to reach their communities. ERDO (Emergency Relief and Development Overseas) is supporting these districts’ work, helping to bring emergency assistance to families impacted by wildfires.
