We are just days away from hosting Spirit-filled believers from around the globe. If you have not already registered, you are still welcome to converge with thousands of other like hearted believers in the heart of Calgary, Alberta, at the TELUS Convention Centre (visit www.25pwc.org). Please pray for our global pastors and leaders who are working on getting their mandatory visas to come. Pray for God to remove opposition and to pave the way for the timely approval of hundreds of applications. Thank you for praying with us.

AUGUST 2019
I will share Christ’s power with others.

Many people have an intellectual understanding of who Christ is, but haven’t experienced His power. Others have allowed the fire of their love for Him to die down so much that there is little motivation to share what they know about Him with people who need to hear it most. One encouraging truth that can inspire us wherever we are on our faith journey is that even a little faith means a lot (Matthew 17:20-21). If we intentionally ask and then trust God to help us through a difficult circumstance, He will (Hebrews 4:16). If we pray for a specific need to be met, He will provide (Matthew 7:7). When we ask Him to reveal Himself to us by the power of the Holy Spirit, He does (John 14:23, Luke 24:49). If we feel we are lacking in faith or in strength, and we call out to Him for more, He will respond (Mark 9:23-24).

When we first give our lives to Christ and we experience a change of heart and a new sense of direction, joy and purpose, we are stirred to share what He has done for us with others. As time goes on and we see specific answers to our prayers, our faith grows, and we have the courage to pray for other people’s needs when they may be lacking faith themselves. Even in a time of disappointment with God’s sovereignty in a given situation, His presence and peace can still become a testimony we can share with others. People without hope also need to know that He can grant the same grace to them in a time of disorientation or pain. With any need we encounter, we have the authority in Christ to pray, speak life, or bring healing and transformation through our prayers, our words and our actions. Let’s not shy away from the opportunities we are given.

Pray
  • That we will maintain an attitude of gratitude for what Christ has already done for us through His life, death and resurrection.
  • That our own experience of Christ’s power will be deepened or renewed in a way that will give us the desire to share it.
  • That we will have discernment to recognize what God is doing in a person or a community and the courage to join Him in it as we have opportunity.

For reflection:

  • In what ways have you experienced Christ’s power at work in your own life?
  • Do you feel a sense of responsibility to share what He has done for you and can do for others you meet? Why or why not?
  • How can you exercise more faith in God’s ability to use you to share Christ’s power?

John 14:23 (NLT)
Jesus replied, “All who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come and make our home with each of them.”

Luke 24:49 (NLT)
“And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”

1 Corinthians 4:20 (NLT)
“For the Kingdom of God is not just a lot of talk; it is living by God’s power.”

Ephesians 3:20 (NLT)
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.”

Next month’s “I Will” statement: “I will love God with all my heart, mind, soul and strength.”
