Ministry Focus: Rift Valley Academy has a long and rich history of serving missionaries across East Africa for more than 100 years. It is a boarding school run by missionaries for missionaries, providing a high quality western education to nearly 500 students each year.
Jeremy's primary responsibility is as the Food Services Manager, managing a staff of thirty national workers who cook nearly 1000 meals a day for the boarding students. Christine is overseeing the travel and immigration for all of the students as well as the 120+ missionaries. Additionally, they get to pour in to the lives of the students through Sunday School classes, small groups, class sponsorship, teaching (Jeremy is the super Science sub and Christine is involved in a variety of ways in the elementary classrooms), mentoring students one on one, providing dorm cover, and so on and so forth!
The vast majority of the students who attend RVA are Missionary Kids, and the existence of the school allows those families to remain on the field when many others return to their home countries as their children reach high school age. There are also children of foreign expats scattered across Africa who attend the school, plus a significant percentage of Kenyan students. RVA may not look like traditional missions, but it enables hundreds of families as they spread the Good News to those who don't yet know Jesus.
Jeremy and Christine have four children, Jacob, Natasha, Paul, and Benjamin who all have the privilege of attending Rift Valley Academy.
