CANADA
A man shot and killed at least 19 people and injured others throughout northern Nova Scotia, while dressed like a police officer and driving a mock police cruiser, on Sunday (April 19). Pray that God will comfort the families and friends of the victims, including RCMP Constable Heidi Stevenson’s husband and two daughters. Pray for the communities of Portapique, Debert, Elmsdale, and surrounding areas, including congregations that have been directly impacted, as well as the RCMP officers and first responders, as they deal with the aftermath. Pray for the pastors, local churches and our Maritime District as they care for those affected. May God provide guidance to local government councillors, MLAs, and Premier Stephen McNeil throughout this time. Pray for opportunities for the gospel to spread, so that many people will find hope and comfort in Christ. Pray also for wisdom and insight for the authorities investigating the incident, so that similar events can be prevented.

WORLDWIDE
Please continue to pray for God’s intervention in the spread of the coronavirus, which has infected nearly 2,315,000, and killed almost 158,000 people worldwide.1 Pray for God to heal those who are suffering from COVID-19, and for comfort for those whose loved ones have passed away. Pray for protection and strength for all of the frontline and essential workers, and for families caring for loved ones at home. Pray that God will grant wisdom to world leaders on how to manage the economic impact of the pandemic. Pray also that God will protect and strengthen people in developing nations who are already malnourished and vulnerable to the spread of COVID-19.

ERDO
ERDO’s global partners have been experiencing the stress of country and city lockdowns, school closures and program delays. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, ERDO is receiving many requests for distributions of emergency food, hygiene and sanitation supplies, training and equipment. Pray for wisdom, strength and encouragement for global partners, and for God’s provision for ERDO to be able to meet these needs. Pray for the effective operation of the many food and nutrition programs, as program partners face even more obstacles in distributing food to those in need. Pray also for the families of sponsored children as many are losing their jobs and are facing financial burdens. Above all, pray for the peace of Christ, for intimacy with the Father while the world is in isolation, and for our global workers as they continue to spread the gospel message.
