Discipleship Series

Coach in Your Corner Overview:

Four times in three consecutive chapters in John's gospel, Jesus reminded troubled disciples hat, in His absence, anoher Counselor would be present, the Holy Spirit.  In fact, Jesus went as far as stating, "It is for your good  that I am going away."  The reason being, "Unless I go away, The Counselor will not come to you; but if I go I will send Him to you" (John 16:7).

What a stark contrast in perspective.  Considered disastrous by the disciples, but confirmed as advantageous by Jesus.  His absence enables a greater presence of the Spirit.  (Isn't it humbling that our perspective is often at variance with that of Jesus?) Given the present availability of the Spirit in fullness, we actually appreciate a preferred Christian life now than the disciples experienced and enjoyed with Jesus.

The emphasis on the Holy Spirit as Counselor is the theme of this contemporary preaching/discipleship series we are making available to you entitled  The Coach in Your Corner.  This series is a follow-up to The Kingdom Conspiracy series, and is intended for use during the 50-day period between Easter Sunday and Pentecost Sunday.  The Coach in Your Corner will focus on the specific and personal work of the Spirit in recruiting for kingdom purposes, spiritual gifting, calling to a position, providing ongoing ans necessary guidance, empowerment (the fullness of the Spirit), and performance (the fruit of the Spirit).

We invite you to use this Small Group Leader's Guide to help facilitate further, in-depth study on the specific topics and themes for the next seven weeks.

Kingdom Conspiracy Overview:

If you are like me, you have asked yourself how your church can be strengthened in the vital areas of discipleship, fruitfulness, missions and genuine Pentecost. We wonder if the people we serve are living out the Christian disciplines? Are our ministries fruitful (i.e. are there real kingdom results)? Are people coming to Christ? Are our churches missions-minded? Are we Pentecostal enough? Or have we neglected the New Testament emphases that contributed to the vitality and growth of the early church and the entire Pentecostal movement?

These are questions I believe we all ask and need to repeatedly address in the life of our congregation. For this reason, we are developing a national campaign that we believe will assist you in mobilizing your congregations in the areas of discipleship, fruitfulness, missions and Pentecost.

I want to personally invite you and your church to participate in this series called the Kingdom Conspiracy. It will provide you with specific ministry tools including sermons, PowerPoints, a devotional booklet and various promotions to be used during a 50-day period, starting on Easter Sunday and continuing until Pentecost Sunday.

We have been in dialogue with pastors, leaders and lay people in the local church who have identified and affirmed that the areas of discipleship, fruitfulness, missions and Pentecost are values that we must not only retain, but strengthen.

Please review the information on these web pages and prayerfully consider joining other PAOC churches across Canada from Easter to Pentecost in the Kingdom Conspiracy. I invite you to download the registration form, fill it in and join today.

Note:
At General Conference 2004, a fellowship discussion produced feedback from pastors, leaders and lay people of churches across Canada. Themes like fruitfulness, leadership, relationships, communication, Pentecostalism and discipleship emerged. Coach and Kingdom Conspiracy were developed in response. To order these products e-mail orderdesk@paoc.org
