Soccer Shoes with a Message
A group of young boys sat on the grass watching to see who would receive the soccer shoes. There were only enough shoes for eight boys so 32 knew they would not get a pair.
Once they coach selected the names and everyone watched the boys try the shoes on for size, there was lots of smiles and many more faces filled with disappointment. One boy tried to hide the tears in his eyes as the coach explained they were trying to get shoes for everyone, but some would have to wait. The coach asked us to share something with the team. We couldn’t say anything...we were too moved by what we saw. So, we explained to them we would be back with shoes for each of them, we would not forget them, and that we had an important message to share. That message is one we want them them to not only hear but experience. God’s incredible love! We are excited to say this week God has seen those little boys and has provided a pair of soccer shoes for each and every one of them!! Sometimes something as simple as a pair of soccer shoes can show a child they are important, that they have value. That God can talk to someone thousands of miles away, who doesn’t even know them, to buy them a pair of shoes because God knows they will be great and He loves them!
