Gingerich, Trevor

Rev. Trevor Gingerich, Mission Canada missionary appointed to Humber College in Toronto, ON

Why should YOU care about campus ministry?

"Researchers with Mission America and the National Network of youth Ministries found between 69-94 percent of Christian youths forsake their faith after leaving high school. Similarly, The Barna Group reported 64 percent loss after college graduation. The Assemblies of God conducted a 10-year study and found 75 percent loss of their students within one year of high school graduation, while the Southern Baptists found that number to be even higher at 88 percent loss. Josh McDowell Ministries reports 94 percent youth fallout within two years of high school graduation." (ChristianPost.com). Canada is really no different.

Picture this: A close-knit community of about 20,000 people - young, passionate people with big aspirations. Some training to be lawyers, engineers and nurses, others training to be businesspeople, social workers and technicians. Influential people that aim to shape the fabric of our society in the coming years.

And no church existed in this huge community. No pastor, no ministry, no missionary - nothing. Until now.
Welcome to The Embassy - a growing campus church at Humber College in Toronto, ON.

My name is Trevor Gingerich. Moved by these overwhelming statistics, I planted a campus church at Humber College as the first appointed Mission Canada missionary with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada. The Embassy was born in 2008, and is still Humber's only Christian ministry on campus.

The Embassy exists to help students discover hope, purpose and life to its fullest through the message, mission and living person of Jesus Christ. It’s a place where students can gather to worship weekly and be exposed to biblical teaching that’s applicable to their surroundings and pertinent to their unique stage in life. It’s a church without walls, bent on reaching students for the Gospel in real, relevant ways.

Although studies show that large numbers of our Christian young people turn away from their faith during post-secondary education, I believe that it’s within our ability and influence to do something about the problem. I believe that our Canadian colleges and universities represent mission fields that require missionaries. And together, I believe we can reverse the statistics. Will you help?

Prayer Request/Praise Report:

1.) That God would continue to bless and guide the ministry team (comprised of myself and the student leaders we've recruited) as we continue to establish this important ministry on campus.

2.) That God would provide the funding necessary to make this campus ministry a reality through churches and individuals who hear the message and are moved to invest in the lives of students at Humber College.

3.) That God would continue to call other missionaries to campuses across our Nation to reach students for the sake of the Gospel.
