Next Generation: Children
Over the past decade, there has been a profound decline in the moral and spiritual values of young Canadians. This is seen negatively in their personal development, family relationships, and social interactions. Many struggle academically, are disconnected emotionally, abuse substances, find it impossible to focus attention, and even resort to cutting in an effort to numb the ache within. Pervasive societal influeces such as texting and social media can feed this decline and rarely offer much help or hope. Cyberspace can be a dangerous place—bullying has moved indoors and sexual predators cruise the web to seduce the innocent.
Parents, Christian leaders, and all believers must be sober and vigilant for those who are most vulnerable—today's children. We must model solid Christian principles and godly character. We must pray.We must equip families to lead their households well. We must ask God for His help in reaching the children of our nation. We must listen to his voice calling us to places where we are not yet, for the sake of children who need to hear God's love and see it in action. Realize that the enemy of our souls has his sights set on our kids and he is acting!
We must stand together, identifying specific needs in our nation and sending workers to serve those needs—schools, neighbourhood parks, community centres, your community. There are opportunities within our reach. Let's dream and discuss what is needed and commit to even greater efforts to see Canada's children excited about life and faith. Your prayer, partnership, investment, and action does and will shape the future of the young in our nation.

Children matter. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them…" (Mat 19:14).
The next generation of children represents the future of the church and the hope of our nation, and is the reason for Mission Canada's interest and efforts in children's ministry.
