Mission Canada Workers
to Whistler, BC
Whistler BC, host of the 2010 Winter Olympics, has many stereotypes attached to it: creative, young, sexual, transient, hospitable, expensive, world-class, riddled with excesses, and hard ground for the gospel. While there is truth to these stereotypes, Whistler is also a place of refuge, restoration and rest for the wandering, the tired and the adventurous.
Whether you come to Whistler for a weekend, a season, or a life-time, there is something about this place that is inspiring, life-giving and restful. Throughout Scripture, we see God at work in the business of redeeming both people and places and very often, the two are interconnected. In Whistler, the gospel is already at work softening people as they love their place.
Life and mission in Whistler has been a long-time dream of our family. Now, by God’s grace, He is opening opportunities ahead of us as we follow Him into the unknown.
Our first steps into Whistler include establishing a relational presence, settling in as good neighbours, and learning the rhythms of life in Whistler. Additionally, I am the new director of Whistler School, a bible and discipleship school located in the heart of the Whistler Village. Whistler School students come from around the world and are engaged in classroom learning, one-on-one mentorship, missional lifestyle and practice while skiing and snowboarding through the season of their life!
More than anything, we want to see Jesus restore and redeem broken lives through the power of the Holy Spirit as we faithfully follow Jesus, our King and Saviour.
We can be found on Twitter, Facebook, and at www.jeremypostal.com. We’d love to host you in Whistler, show you around the mountain, suggest great places to eat, and pray together as the gospel is established in Whistler.
