Virtual Tool Box of Children's Ministries Resources

One of the priorities of the Mission Canada Children's Group is to resource effective and proven tools in order to catalyze and enhance ministry to children across the nation. The first step in making this a reality is the creation of a virtual "Tool Box." This wealth of information will be helpful both to new churches and ministries as well as those who are more established. It contains listings of recommended resources that can be used by those in Children's Ministries who are making the decisions as to what curriculums to use, books to read, ministries to connect with, websites to explore and more. This Tool Box is designed to be useful to both the seasoned Children's Pastor, lay person and also the Bible College graduate seeking to start out on the right foot in ministry.

The decision of a Tool Box came as the direct result of a realization that often we can choose the newest curriculum on the market, the best selling book to read or the latest musical to perform with our church kids without totally considering the message and the Biblical principles being communicated. Is it what the children need at this point in their faith journey? Am I conscious and aware of the spiritual foundation that is being laid in these young lives I have been given leadership over? What messages are being missed or repeated in our teachings that are critical to a healthy spirituality as our children develop and mature? What issues are relevant in today's society that must be understood by teachers and parents? How do I effectively evaluate the ministry to children in my local church? Am I being effective as a leader?

This Tool Box is designed to be fluid. Some things may change over time, yet the foundations must stay strong. As leaders in local churches and ministries, we are given opportunity to raise up children who are Bible-based, Spirit filled disciples of Christ. What we do and how we teach will definitely shape the experience and outcomes. We must be spiritually responsible for the children we have been entrusted with so that their faith will be unshakable!

Youth Ministry Leader Certification

A large number of PAOC churches are blessed with volunteer staff that assist or oversee youth ministries. Often, these volunteers lack theological or ministerial training.

The national youth team is creating a youth leadership certification program for use in the local church in an effort to see these volunteers succeed and become increasingly effective for the task. This will also ensure a general level of equipping for PAOC youth ministers across the nation.

Expect to hear more about the youth ministry certification program at General Conference 2008.
